Get ready for liftoff! On December 4, at 11:38 (Belgian time), the Proba-3 duo-satellite will blast off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, India.
Equipped with a coronograph developed by the Royal Observatory of Belgium, Proba-3 will also carry the innovative 3DEES instrument (3 Dimensions Energetic Electron Spectrometer) to measure particle fluxes in the Earth's radiation belts. This cutting-edge detector was co-developed by the Centre for Space Radiation at UCLouvain, the Royal Belgian Institute for Space Aeronomy, and aerospace manufacturer Redwire Space.

The two satellites making up Proba-3 will fly in precise formation to form an external coronagraph in space, one satellite eclipsing the Sun to allow the second to study the otherwise invisible solar corona. Credit: ESA - P. Carril
